What downturn??

I watch the news alot. I admit it, I'm a news junkie jumping between Fox and CNN regularly. All they seem to want to talk about is the economic downturn. Apparently, these people have not been to the Nashville Malls lately.

Oprymills Mall was a madhouse yesterday afternoon. Lots of people shopping and buying. The restaurants were full. We had a thirty minute wait at Rainforest Cafe at 11:30 in the afternoon. My kids love to eat there. I see this ever time I go to town. I just don't see how stores are stuggling. How could they be? They're always packed. At least around here they are.

But despite all that, we had a great day. Got my 15 yr old son a new pair of tennis shoes. Can you believe he's in a size 13??? I went through this with my oldest too. He finally stopped at 13 1/2 and 6'4" tall. My 15 year old isn't far behind at 6'2". Then there's my little tiny petite 7 year old daughter.

I'm the only girl in four generations full of boys, so when I had her, I had no idea what to do with a girl. Still not real sure to be honest...lol. I'm used to summers at baseball, winters at football. Now i'm doing gymnastics and dance, shopping for hairbows and pretty dressy shoes. I was such a tomboy and she's such a girlie girl. Wonder if the hospital mixed her up?? :) I know that's not true. She's the spitting image of her dad...lol. But we're trugding along. I'll point out a neat pair of jeans and she'll give me this eye-rolling look and say with a tired sigh..."mom, no," then go straight for the skirts and skorts with the little matching tops and flipflops...lol.

Girls...:)

We also had to swing by Bass Pro Shop and pick up one of those stealth camera. We have a prowler here at the house. A few weeks ago when it snowed, he left his footprints in the snow as he walked around the house and stopped to look in the kitchen window. At the time, it didn't have blinds on it because there's a nice view across the pond. There's blinds now. I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but the other night I was in the master bathroom. I didn't turn on the light, there's enough light coming from the bedroom for me to see to put my daughter's hairbows on the counter that she leaves laying around the house, and just happened to glance over at the window. When looking down on the blinds, you can see through the slits. The light from the kids bathroom was shining on the storage building behind the house that we haven't had time to tear down yet. A shadow passed over that light against the building as though it was standing just outside the bathroom window. He moved to the left quickly and I ran to the bedroom window to see if I could see him better, but he disappeared. It was so dark you couldn't see a thing out there.

Needless to say it freaked me out. Camera goes up today...:)
